Frequently asked questions about homeopathy #2

When using homeopathic medicine, what body products can I use?

Yes there are some body products you should avoid when using homeopathic medicine. There are basically two categories to consider:

  • ingredients in body products that actually stop homeopathic medicines from working

  • ingredients in body products that are just plain unhealthy choices.

The ingredients that stop homeopathic medicines from working are:

  • camphor

  • eucalyptus

  • tea tree oil (melaleuca oil)

  • and perhaps boswellia oil

These strong essential oils have a kryptonite effect on the superman of homeopathic medicines. They stop your response to the medicines. How long do they stop your response? That can vary from hours to days to weeks to permanently.

These ingredients are found in many common body care products like:

  • Vick's Vapo-Rub, Vick's lozenges

  • Noxzema products

  • Ben Gay

  • Tiger Balm

  • Sea Breeze

  • Carmex

  • moth balls

  • camphorated incense

  • many Tom's of Maine deodorants and toothpastes

  • many natural deodorants

These products must be avoided at all times during treatment, not just at the moment of taking the homeopathic medicine.
